First Aid:Responding to Emergencies (RTE) with CPR AED for the Professional Rescuer
When combined with CPR AED for the Professional Rescuer, this course meets Department of Health requirements for Camp Health Officers. This course is designed to provide individuals with first aid skills to care for those with life-threatening emergencies. The course provides an expanded, in-depth first aid format which allows participants to evaluate their progress in terms of skills competency, knowledge and decision making. You'll learn how to identify and care for a variety of medical emergencies including severe bleeding, shock, musculoskeletal injuries, and moving victims. The course also provides special information on what to do when advanced medical help is not available. First Aid- Responding to Emergencies is designed for individuals who desire a thorough working knowledge of first aid procedures. This ARC certificate is valid for 3 years. The CPR Module is valid for 1 year.
CPR AED for the Professional Rescuer
This Course is the code standard for CPR required by the Department of Health. Advanced level of CPR training for individuals who have a job-related "duty to respond" to emergencies. The 8-hour course includes an overview of body systems and medical/legal issues. Participants learn how to recognize and provide care in respiratory and cardiac emergencies for adults, children and infants, with special emphasis on two-rescuer CPR use of the resuscitation mask, bag-valve mask. Techniques for minimizing the risk of disease transmission and for special resuscitation situations are included. This course is especially recommended for summer camp staff, medical professionals, lifeguards, aerobics/fitness/sports instructors and public and private safety/security employees. This ARC certificate is valid for 1 year.
Standard First Aid
This course is the code Standard for First Aid required by the Department of Health for counselors and other camp staff. This 4-hour course teaches the latest in first aid for injuries and sudden illnesses. Participants in this course receive a certificate in Standard First Aid (valid for 3 years).
Lifeguarding
This course is the code standard for waterfront supervision for the Department of Health. This all-inclusive 31 hour course teaches candidates the skills and knowledge needed by professional lifeguards to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies at swimming pool facilities. All required CPR and First Aid skills are included in this course. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive certification in CPR AED for the Professional Rescuer (valid for 1 year) and Lifeguarding and First Aid (valid for 3 years).Prerequisites: 15 years of age before the final scheduled session (proof required); Successfully complete a required 300-yard continuous swim (consisting of 100 yards of the front crawl, 100 yards of breaststroke and 100 yards of either front crawl or breaststroke), and Swim 20 yards submerge to a minimum depth of 7 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using the ladder or steps within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
