Lifeguarding
This course is the code standard for waterfront supervision for the Department of Health. This all-inclusive 31 hour course teaches candidates the skills and knowledge needed by professional lifeguards to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies at swimming pool facilities. All required CPR and First Aid skills are included in this course. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive certification in CPR AED for the Professional Rescuer (valid for 1 year) and Lifeguarding and First Aid (valid for 3 years).Prerequisites: 15 years of age before the final scheduled session (proof required); Successfully complete a required 300-yard continuous swim (consisting of 100 yards of the front crawl, 100 yards of breaststroke and 100 yards of either front crawl or breaststroke), and Swim 20 yards submerge to a minimum depth of 7 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using the ladder or steps within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
Prevention of Disease Transmission
This 2 hour course trains participants in safe workplace practices. Learn how to report and follow up on employee exposures to infectious materials, and to reduce the number of employees who contract bloodborne infections such as Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) from the worksite. Appropriate for all employees, especially those at risk of exposure to infectious agents. Certificate validity: None, but OSHA regulations indicate that bloodborne pathogens training must be conducted annually.
